Resolve to Evolve the New Year with Intention

In Sanskrit, sankalpa means intention directed toward a specific outcome.
Sankalpa praises the nobility of the effort rather than focusing on what you are doing wrong. An intention is a promise you make to yourself about what you intend to do, be, or say. An intention is a way to put positive thinking and desires into action. Intention is not oriented toward a future outcome. Instead, it is a path or practice that is focused on the present moment. You set your intentions based on understanding what matters most to you and make a commitment to align your actions with your inner values.

I begin many classes reminding students to set an intention for the practice. Sometimes we pick angle cards and often the cards align with our intentions.
New Years Day is a time for starting fresh, a time for reflection and thinking about where life is calling for a change. Begin the New Year with a yogic twist. Set an intention this year praising the efforts rather then focusing on the failures. Create an intention and open yourself to the universe.
