High Street Yoga will be teaching Chair Yoga at the Pottstown Senior Center begining Tuesday, March 9th at 10:00 am. Check out some of the benefits of chair yoga and consider it for yourself!
This class is a gentle form of yoga. With so many types of Yoga available, here is one that most of us can practice. Most Chair Yoga classes don’t use a Yoga mat, but the main prop used is a chair. You will practice yoga sitting in a chair or standing using the chair for support. This helps with balancing poses, and most common Yoga postures can be modified for the chair. Clients can learn any number of Yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and stage-by-stage relaxation, with the aid of a chair. Complicated maneuvers and complex movements are NOT present in this class. Students are able to warm up the body safely and perform yoga poses with more support and stability. Poses are done seated on the chair or the chair is used for support during standing poses, forward and backward bends, side extensions, balancing, and leg and arm stretches. Learn to use your breath to reduce tension. Use gentle movements to relieve your joints, allow greater range of motion and improve strength, balance and flexibility. Be prepared to laugh, have fun and relax. Chair Yoga is suitable for all ages, fitness levels and physical conditions.
